F minor 6th chord. The Fm6 chord is a minor chord with an additional major 6th. To get the 6th (D) go up a whole-step (2 frets) from the 5th or a minor 3rd (3 frets) down from a root tone. You can also take a Fm7 chord, find its minor 7th Eb and move it just 1 fret (1 half-step) downwards to the major 6th D.

The Fm6 chord consists of the tones F (1), Ab (m3), C (5) and D (6). The 5th (C) can be omitted.

Common chord progressions with the Fm6 chord:
The II-V-I progression Fm7 Bb7 Ebmaj7 can be modified to Fm7 Fm6 Ebmaj7. The Fm6 chord contains the same tones as a Bb9 = Bb7(9) chord without the root Bb. Thus the Fm6 chord has a similar tendency to resolve into the Ebmaj7 chord as Bb7 respectively Bb9. The intensified minor character (sad, sentimental,…) goes along with the tranquilized movement of the bass.
Another chord progression with the same intention: instead of Fmaj7 Bb7 Cmaj you are playing Fmaj7 Fm6 Cmaj7.
A different application are the so called line-clichés like Fm Fm(maj7) Fm7 Fm6, where just one single tone is moving up or down chromatically.

capodaster

The pleasant sound and sometimes easier playability of an open chord can be put into practice by mounting a capodaster on the indicated fret. Of course that may goe along with the disadvantage of not being able to use the frets lower than the capo anymore.
